The county of Abaetetuba is one of the most important and dynamic in the Baixo Tocantins region, however, the progress of port activities has provoked a series of questions about the social and environmental impacts caused to the local population. The work sought to identify how the port enterprises has impacted on the dynamics of resource use, in the Capim sector, located on Capim Island, Abaetetuba. For the information collection, a semi-structured interview and transversal walk were used. It was identified that most of the families that live there present their activities mainly focused on fishing, intercalating it with the management and collection of the açaí. The residents reported concern about the impacts of the presence of the enterprises, highlighting the incident with the wreck of the freighter, that caused problems regarding the use of local resources due to the reduction of fishing and even the permanence of the residents. |
