This study aims to discuss the preservation strategies in the context of digital archival document. Digital preservation in the technical aspect can be understood as the set of managerial and technical actions required to overcome the technological changes and the fragility of the supports, ensuring access to and interpretation of digital documents for as long as necessary. To develop this study, a literature review was done in books, articles, theses and dissertations in order to extract information about the theoretical framework used by the authors researched sources. Before entering the heart of the theme, and to a better understanding of the ideas that will be presented throughout the text, it was necessary to make a conceptual analysis of the archival document and its application in the digital environment. Then they were presented the characteristics of the digital object and its importance in the preservation effort. After this was pointed out some of the main conservation strategies used today. From then on, it was possible to understand that for an organization to succeed in a digital preservation program will require it to establish preservation policies that best suit their needs and operating capabilities.
