The paraense salty zone is within the area of hydrological influence and the sedimentary contribution of the Amazon River, having a constant variation in its coastline, either by erosion or accretion of sediments. The Algodoal/Maiandeua Island, municipality of Maracanã, present in the salty zone, undergoes the natural dynamics of the morphology of coastal environments what can cause damage to the resident population in the place. The objective of this work is to identify the areas of accretion and coastal erosion and calculate these variations on the sandy beaches of the four communities of the island (Algodoal, Fortalezinha, Mocoóca and Camboinha) during 28 years (1988-2016); To this end, satellite images made available by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) using ArcGIS software and its Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) extension, which statistically computes the variations of the coastline through a time series. The island presented a more stable area with average variations between 1 and 2 m/year, for both advancement and costal retreat, in its western portion (Algodoal and Camboinha villages) while to the east were identified great variations, especially in the beaches of Fortalezinha and Princesa, where a great advance of the coast line could be observed, with averages up to 16 m/year of advance and 8 m/year of recoil. In general, the DSAS functions is a practical tool with quick results that can be used to visualize long-term morphological changes and without the need for physical measurements in situ, however, for a more complete result of characterization of the study area, such measurements are of paramount importance, especially for the provision of future estimates of variations in the coastline. Mudanças na linha de costa são desencadeadas por processos naturais ou antrópicos e que atuam em diferentes escalas temporais e espaciais, tendo respostas diretas nas políticas empregadas pelas cidades litorâneas dependentes do uso da costa para economia, turismo ou recreação. A zona do salgado paraense está dentro da área de influência hidrológica e do aporte sedimentar do Rio Amazonas, tendo uma constante variação na sua linha de costa, seja por erosão ou acresção de sedimentos. A Ilha de Algodoal/Maiandeua, município de Maracanã, presente na zona do salgado, sofre a dinâmica natural da morfologia de ambientes costeiros e isso pode vir a causar danos a população residente no local. O presente trabalho objetiva identificar as áreas de acresção e erosão costeira e calcular essas variações nas praias arenosas das quatro comunidades da ilha (Algodoal, Fortalezinha, Mocooca e Camboinha) durante 28 anos (1988-2016); para isto, serão utilizadas imagens de satélite disponibilizadas pelo Serviço Geológico dos Estados Unidos (USGS - United States Geological Survey), utilizando o software ArcGIS e sua extensão Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS), que calcula estatisticamente as variações da linha de costa através de uma série temporal. A ilha apresentou uma área mais estável com variações médias entre 1 e 2 m/ano, tanto de avanço quanto de recuo costeiro, em sua porção oeste (Vilas de Algodoal e Camboinha), enquanto na leste foram identificadas grandes variações, especialmente nas praias de Fortalezinha e Princesa onde pôde ser observado grande avanço da linha de costa, com médias de até 16 m/ano de avanço e 8 m/ano de recuo. No geral, o DSAS funciona como uma ferramenta prática e de resultados rápidos que pode ser utilizada para visualizar mudanças morfológicas de longo prazo e sem a necessidade de medições físicas in situ, todavia, para um resultado mais completo de caracterização da área de estudo, tais medições são de suma importância, especialmente para fornecimento de estimativas futuras de variações na linha de costa. 2019-04-11T19:26:48Z 2019-04-11T19:26:48Z 2018-11-30 Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso - Graduação ALVES, Gabriel Silveira da Silva.
