With increasing demand for consumption, the açaí has aroused commercial interest and other market spheres, and started to have a more intense and planned crop to possibly meet this demand. In this expectation the work is oriented to understand the dynamics of the açaí productive chain in the lower and upper economy circuits, from the systematization and empirical cut of the municipality of Belém. Its profitability is considerably high as regards the economic return to the state of Pará; the circulation of the local açaí has formal and informal market bias for the generation of income and livelihood of families in the social space, and increasing emergence of export companies and their disparities of economic return to the state in the production of açaí. Obstacles in the production of açaí demand, required government investments in the lower cycle, are addressed in the work, as well as the nutritional value of açaí as external consumer interest. The work builds on the argumentation from bibliographical summaries and interviews with actors connected to the chain in different positions, besides the theoretical approach of authors who discuss the theme. The results point to a significant and growing açaí expansion in the local, national and international market, with values and analysis of expressive data that speculate a tendency of this economic growth. O açaí possui significativa importância cultural e econômica na Amazônia, e nos últimos anos vem aumentando a visibilidade externa do fruto através de uma extração feita por famílias tradicionais para consumo próprio e pequena comercialização, assim como a produção industrial. Com a crescente demanda de consumo, o açaí tem despertando interesse comercial e outras esferas de mercado, e passou a ter um cultivo mais intenso e planejado para possivelmente atender essa demanda. Nessa expectativa o trabalho norteia em compreender a dinâmica da cadeia produtiva do açaí no circuito inferiores e superior de economia, a partir da sistematização e recorte empírico o município de Belém. Sua rentabilidade é consideravelmente alta quanto ao retorno econômico para o estado do Pará; a circulação do açaí local tem viés de mercado formal e informal para a geração de renda e sustento de famílias no espaço social, e surgimento crescente de empresas de exportação e suas disparidades de retorno econômico para o estado na produção do açaí. Obstáculos na produção da demanda açaí, necessitou de investimentos governamentais para o ciclo inferior, são abordados no trabalho, assim como o valor nutricional do açaí como interesse de consumo externo. O trabalho se edifica na argumentação a partir de resumos bibliográficos e entrevistas com atores ligados à cadeia em diferentes posições, além do enfoque teórico de autores que discutem o tema.
