The elements, variables and requirements of the Indexing Policy contribute to achieve search results that better meet the needs of the user community, as it values the interests of the user, satisfying the issues raised by the demand. In this sense, the present research develops the topic Indexing Policy: discussions in UFPA libraries. Intends to discuss the Policy of Indexation in University Libraries, to verify if there is the adoption of this policy in the UFPA libraries and the possible evaluation of the practices in Indexing Policy. It develops a study to identify aspects of the Indexing Policy practiced in the sector libraries and Central Library. It uses a bibliographical review for theoretical basis and the questionnaire as a tool for data collection. The data analysis revealed the partial practice of Indexing Policy in the libraries studied, highlights the initiative of professionals responsible for such practices. It concludes by highlighting the importance and necessity of the implementation of the Indexing Policy in the context of the University Library. É de grande influência nos resultados provenientes da busca do usuário em uma unidade de informação, as diretrizes que norteiam o trabalho do bibliotecário/indexador, pois auxiliam na determinação da consistência na indexação. Os elementos, variáveis e requisitos da Política de Indexação contribuem para alcançar resultados de busca que melhor atenda as necessidades da comunidade de usuários, pois preza pelos interesses desta, satisfazendo as questões levantadas pela demanda. Nesse sentido, a presente pesquisa desenvolve o tema Política de Indexação: discussões em bibliotecas da UFPA. Intenciona discutir a Política de Indexação em Bibliotecas Universitárias, verificar se existe a adoção dessa política nas biblioteca da UFPA e a possível avaliação das práticas em Política de Indexação. Desenvolve estudo de identificação de aspectos da Política de Indexação praticados nas bibliotecas setorias e Biblioteca Central. Utiliza revisão bibliográfica para fundamentação teórica e o questionário como ferramenta de coleta de dados. A análise de dados obtidos revela a prática parcial da Política de Indexação nas bibliotecas estudadas, ressalta a iniciativa dos profissionais responsáveis por tais práticas.
