This paper aims to demonstrate the importance of using geoprocessing tools for environmental analysis of the municipality of Marituba in the state of Pará. Because by processing data acquired for the realization of spatial classification and multi-temporal images of the series Landsats MSS 5 and 8 OLI, which served as the basis for the characterization and comparison in the dynamics of soil use and occupation. After your purchases on the website of the USGS (US Geological Survey) pre-processing was performed for the geometric correction, RGB band composition and unsupervised classification using ArcGis 10.5.1 software. It was characterized the growth of the city in a disorderly manner and without proper planning resulting in environmental impacts such as the reduction of vegetation, lack of infrastructure, basic sanitation and urban planning. Other important factors that were presented with great emphasis were: The growth of the urban nucleus with the highest population concentration per square kilometer, Implementation of projects in inadequate ways. These socio-environmental problems in the city are reasons for countless protests by the population, highlighting, the revolt against the functioning of the local sanitary landfill. For these reasons, it is characterized by the great relevance of using the use of geotechnologies that are constantly developing, providing the use of new soil management techniques aimed at reducing and preventing negative effects related to current environmental management practices in the regional and local context.
