The adverse events (EAs) can be described as a undesired result during the healthcare, negative and not intentional, not related to the natural evolution of the underlying disease, which cause measurable injuries to the afected patient. With the notification instrument, it is possible to offer attention to the error occurred during the healthcare service, provide detailed information about the EAs and lead the definition of priorities and the development of policies and interventions in the services associetaded with the quality improvement of the healthcare service, to increase its safeness. The study has the objective of research about adverse events (EAs) associated to the healthcare service in a University Hospital. It is a descriptive, transversal and qualitative study. The research was developed in the Hospital Universitário João de Barros Barreto (HUJBB), situated in Belém-PA city, by application of an adaptaded survey of the Agency for Health Reserach an Quality (AHRQ), titled by Hospital Survey on Pantient Safety Culture. Thirty-One nurses, between 29 and 63 years-old, have participated in the survey. For the best presentation of the results, there has been used a scale of 1 to 5, which the total score of the answers may vary between “totally desagree” (1) and “totally agree” (5) or “never” (1) and “always” (5). The sum of the scores has varied between 86 and 126. The average of the items has varied between 2,744 and 4,064. The majority of the nurses who have participated in this research (64,51%) do not filled any notification of adverse events report relationed to the healthcare service in the last twelve months. The knowledge acquired with this research, enhance the need of develop educational programs which mai elucidate what are the adverse events, suggesting situations to understand the causes of the problem and proposes of improvement, as well the importance of the notification act, as much for the hospital as for the patients.
