It aims to contribute to the in - depth knowledge on studies of informational behavior of users based on how they are treated in the literature of the information science in the last six decades. For so many the analysis is based on the revisions published in the Annual Review period, the Infrmation Science and Technology (Arsit) and other works that complement the topic addressed showing its theoretical and methodological evolution. A crucial differential is related to the conceptual change observed, which delay the expansion of the epistemological view of the studies. Such change refers, in particular, to the new terminology adopted, which changes from "user studies" to "information behavior". It is, however, not only a terminological change, but above all a paradigm shift, a result of transformations in the way the topic is defined and approached, and in the way it is investigated.
