In view of the relevance and benefits of therapeutic toy in pediatric care, it is perceived the need for nursing undergraduate courses to employ the teaching of the subject, assuring the theoretical and practical experience of this instrument. Thus, to train nursing professionals who are humanized and instructed to use therapeutic toy in care. The study analyzed the nursing students' knowledge about the use of therapeutic toy in the pediatric unit. Is based on a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach on nursing students' knowledge about therapeutic toy as a technology for hospitalized child care. The subjects of the research were thirteen academics from the 6th and 7th semester of the Faculty of Nursing of the Federal University of Pará (FAENF / ICS / UFPA), located in Belém of Pará. They met the inclusion criteria and accepted to participate of the study after the presentation of the informed consent form. Data were collected through an open interview, using a semi-structured script and recorded with the help of a mobile recorder. The study was carried out from October 24 to November 1, 2018. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Health Sciences Institute of the Federal University of Pará (ICS / UFPA), in accordance with resolution 466 / 12 of the National Health Council. Data analysis was performed through content analysis of interviews, where the following categories emerged: Conceptualization of therapeutic toy as a tool for nursing care, benefits and importance for hospitalized children, factors that interfere with the applicability of therapeutic toy and inclusion of therapeutic toy in educational grade. The results showed that therapeutic toy is a beneficial and effective tool in the treatment of hospitalized children, providing greater interaction and trust between professional / patient / family and better coping with their hospitalization, but some difficulties in applying it are found. He pointed out that therapeutic toy helps academics to have better skills with children. Thus, it was verified the relevance in addressing this subject in the undergraduate and inserting it in the curricular grid of the nursing courses, because it allows the formation of more humanized and sensitized professionals to implement BT in their future routine of pediatric care, seeking to offer a more holistic care. O Brinquedo Terapêutico (BT) é um instrumento auxiliador no processo de trabalho da enfermagem e constitui-se como uma estratégia nas intervenções da equipe. Ele promove o alívio da ansiedade, medo e frustração, assim como, possibilita a comunicação, expressão de sentimentos e favorece a criação de vínculo entre o profissional, acadêmico, criança e familiar. Em vista desta relevância e benefícios do BT no cuidado pediátrico, percebe-se a necessidade dos cursos de graduação em enfermagem empregar o ensino da temática, assegurando a vivência teórica e prática desse instrumento. De modo, a formar profissionais de enfermagem humanizados e instruídos ao uso do BT na assistência. O estudo analisou o conhecimento dos acadêmicos de enfermagem quanto à utilização do BT na unidade de pediatria. Baseia-se em um estudo descritivo, transversal com abordagem qualitativa sobre o conhecimento de acadêmicos de enfermagem acerca do BT como tecnologia do cuidado à criança hospitalizada. Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram treze acadêmicos do 6º e 7º semestre da Faculdade de Enfermagem do Instituto de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Federal do Pará (FAENF/ICS/UFPA), localizado em Belém do Pará. Estes atenderam os critérios de inclusão e aceitaram participar do estudo após a apresentação do TCLE. Os dados foram coletados por meio de uma entrevista aberta, mediante um roteiro semiestruturado e registrados com auxílio de um gravador de celular. A coleta ocorreu no período de 24 de outubro a 01 de novembro de 2018. A pesquisa foi aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa do Instituto de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Federal do Pará (ICS/UFPA), de acordo com a resolução 466/12 do Conselho Nacional de Saúde. A análise de dados foi realizada por meio da análise de conteúdo das entrevistas, onde emergiram as seguintes categorias: Conceituação do BT como ferramenta do cuidado de enfermagem, benefícios e importância para as crianças hospitalizadas, fatores que interferem na aplicabilidade do BT e inclusão do BT na formação acadêmica. Os resultados mostraram que o BT é uma ferramenta benéfica e eficaz no tratamento da criança hospitalizada, proporcionando maior interação e vínculo de confiança entre profissional/paciente/família e melhor enfrentamento da sua hospitalização, porém algumas dificuldades em aplicá-lo são encontradas. Apontou que o BT ajuda o acadêmico a ter melhor habilidade com as crianças.
