The municipalities of São Miguel do Guamá and Irituia located in the northeast
portion of the State of Pará stand out as major producers of mineral assets in use in
the civil construction industry, with emphasis on the derivatives of the clay, and the
metropolitan region of Belém and City of Castanhal as the major consumer centers.
The industry produces oleira these municipalities around 40,000,000 (forty million)
pieces per month and generates approximately 2,800 (two thousand and eight
hundred) direct and indirect jobs, presenting itself as the largest producers of red
ceramic Northeastern State of Pará The clays present in the cities studied have a
brownish gray color characterized by ferruginous concretions and looks plastic. This
clay material is highly controlled over geologic time by the action of hydrodynamic
Rios Guamá and Irituia. These deposits are all marked by the floodplain of the rivers
mentioned above. The clays potentially more economical in the region are located at
more shallow levels in the areas of extraction and further away from the beds of
rivers, but within the zone of flooding of the same, this fact is probably not due to
deposition of organic matter brought by rivers in points more distant from its flood
plain of. The clays of São Miguel do Guamá, as well as Irituia has been increasing
considerably in the consumer market for its high technological power in the
production of tiles and bricks. This characteristic meets technological properties and
the rupture stress of the bending, the lower water absorption, color after firing, fewer
ferruginosa concretion and low organic matter content. |
