INTRODUCTION:Motherhood is an experience that a significant proportion of women
want to live, and is usually related to feelings of love, tenderness and satisfaction. However,
feelings such as fear, insecurity, anxiety may occur depending on several factors. Thus,
childbirth is a natural process that should result mostly in vaginal delivery, when there is no
problem or imminent risk that could be harmful to the mother and / or the fetus / newborn,
preventing this way. But the reality in Brazil shows that the incidence of caesarean section is
84%, although the recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO), is that
cesarean section should correspond to no more than 15% of total births. Currently, there is
much discussion about the Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) because the evidence shows
that the risks of cesarean section outweigh the risks of a vaginal delivery, even in cases of
previous cesarean section. Thus the VBAC, has gained attention in recent years because
studies are being carried out with the intention of observing what most influences the mothers
who fall into this experience, to obtain a positive outcome and uneventful. OBJECTIVE: To
describe the experiences of women about the Birth After Caesarean. METHODS: The study
consisted of descriptive, cross-sectional and qualitative study, through semi-structured
interviews conducted with 17 mothers, aged between 18 and 40, hospitalized in rooming
Santa Para Mercy House Foundation, in June and July 2016. the data were analyzed according
to the content analysis technique and research followed the guidelines for research with
human beings present in Resolution 466/12 of the National Health Council RESULTS AND
DISCUSSION: a driver core was analyzed, generating four categories of analysis. The
discussion took place with those categories, resulting in positive and negative aspects about
the VBAC, which is experienced by women, in most part, to be a painful experience suffered,
but it results in positive aspects, not only is recovery Normal postpartum seen as an
advantage, but all the involvement that it promotes. The health worker was highlighted with
respect to contribute or not with the experience of a VBAC, both prenatally and in the
hospital. CONCLUSION: Maternal experiences about VBAC permeated by large positive
and negative aspects. Feelings such as pain and fatigue during the natural process of birth
after cesarean experience were highlighted, we realized the obstetric violence as something
negative and benefits such as faster postpartum recovery, increased mother-infant bonding,
among others, They were emphasized. Although many positive aspects have emerged in the
study, it is concluded that professionals still need more skills based on scientific evidence so
that they become able to guide women to the VBAC is possible, should this reflection be
started from the graduation training, permeating the highest levels of professional
qualification, thus strengthening the qualified and humanized care, avoiding risks to mother
and baby binomial and intensifying the positive experiences of women met. |
