Resumo:
The development of empirical models to estimate the production of macrobenthic populations has been a major challenge in recent decades. In a recent evaluation of the applicability of these models in order to estimate the macrofauna production of sandy beaches, few presented satisfactory performance, thus, it is necessary, the elaboration of production models to obtain estimates of these organisms. In this way, we seek to examine possible empirical models to estimate the macrofauna production of sandy beaches. In the development of the study, a bibliographic survey was carried out, collecting data on biotic variables such as bivalves, crustaceans, crustaceans, amphipods, isopods and decapods, abiotic variables and environmental variables such as sea water temperature, mean grain size and the slope of the beaches, and the samples were analyzed by simple and multiple regressions. The simple relationships between the P / B ratio and the physical and biological variables showed that life expectancy is the variable most strongly related to the P / B ratio, although life expectancy is not the most adequate variable for modeling due to to the difficulty of estimating this parameter accurately. On the other hand, some models obtained from multiple regressions included biological and physical variables, excluding life expectancy, in order to observe the relation of the variables and their coefficients of significance. It reinforces the need for more estimates of macrofauna secondary production of beaches with their respective environmental physical characteristics to be obtained to give greater applicability in empirically generated models.
