Faced with the challenges that library collections face when it comes to their preservation and content dissemination, document scanning contributes to the rescue of the historical memory of a collection when its original support is weakened. This paper addresses the current conditions of the State of Pará Public Archives Support Library’s Catalogs and Leaflets Collection, exposing the significance of the State’s documentary heritage and its municipalities when it comes to the need for reformatting these materials as alternative preservation of historical references to society. Analyzing the profile and convenience of users searching in already reformatted materials, we sought to understand the current needs faced in the act of their research, from the above, through a questionnaire, some alternatives were presented to researchers who were unanimous in answering about the practicality found in the handling of digital collections. So observing most viable alternatives to research practices of scanned documents and analyzing the unstable conditions that technologies currently provide, this paper proposes besides reformatting the assets of Catalogs and Brochures sector and preservation of documents and dissemination of information, the replacement of APEP computer equipments for Apple models Macbooks, considered multifunctional and of higher quality.
