The currently work named – Documentos Herdados: uma Reflexão A Partir do Acervo de
Edson Diniz Sobre o Grupo Thenetehara-Guajajara, has as its central object of study the
personal collection Edson Diniz, as well as the documents and works about the
Tenetehara-Guajajara Indians, developed by him. Edson Soares Diniz (1934-2012), was a
indigenous ethnologist, with a intense academic-professional path during the 60’s-90’s
decades, a lot of his productions and memories cross each other with emblematic
moments of the Brazilian anthropology. About the Tenetehara group, it is known that it is a
general term to embrace the Guajajara from Maranhão’s state and the Tembé from Pará,
the indigenous was a group studied by Edson along his carrier. Thus, it is proposed here a
lection about the Tenetehara-Guajajara, even about Edson Diniz starting from his personal
collection. Analysis and appointments, by the optic of the museology documentation will be
done, considering its potential of being an object of museology. Thus, will be presented the
efforts in this objective, of sharing this collection content, turning it available for the society.
