This study aims to present a theoretical-conceptual discussion about 'adolescence / youth' and 'violence', in order to identify the central aspects that perpass the development of these subjects. The methodology is constituted by a bibliographical review, where we use the descriptors 'Youth', 'Adolescence' and 'Violence', in the Capes / MEC Periodical databases and Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and, through previous reading of the title , abstracts and keywords, we selected studies that dealt directly with the subject to be studied. After selection, three categories of analysis were defined: 1. Conceptions of Adolescence / youth. 2. Youth and Violence. 3. The effects of violence on youth. The review showed that the term adolescence / youth assumes a heterogeneous character, in that it is shaped by multiple meanings, these being related to the different conditions and trajectories of young people. Violence is treated in the literature as a complex phenomenon, since it can occur in different forms and circumstances. On the other hand, the effects of violence are seen in a wide way, since these are characterized by the physical and psychological damages to these subjects. It was also verified that these impacts are sometimes related to the existence of other risk factors in the family or community context (alcohol use, social vulnerability, low self-esteem, among others), being harmful to these young people, thus interfering in their life trajectory. And so, the importance of coping in the experience of these subjects was noted, so that they can overcome adversities. |
