Resumo:
We have developed a geophysical study by the Electrical Method, in the form of vertical electrical sounding (VES) to investigate the shallow subsurface of the seat of the municipality of Augusto Corrêa, in order to delineate aquifers in order to indicate n ew catchment areas to meet the proposed expansion of the water supply system in the city. The study was conducted in the streets involving both former catchment areas as new neighborhoods arising from recent urban expansion. As initial data, we used a prof iling run into a hole of 120 meters which identified only 25 meters of sandy silt / clay on a package of shale continue until the end of the hole. With the polls, it was determined that the top of the package shale ranges from 24 to 36 feet deep, correspon ding to a conductive substrate site and waterproof. Above that is a layer substrate sandy, crumbly, with thicknesses ranging from 5.8 to 16.7 meters and resistivity of 89 ohm m to 2297 ohm.m which should contain the confined aquifer site. On this sandy lay er with a layer conductive enough resistivities around 2 5 ohm m, which must correspond to a package of clay or organic matter located in the northeastern portions, and South East area. That same horizon, the West, the layer is sandy loam which should cont ain the groundwater aquifer site. And up comes the cover with sandy clay soils. To delimit the confined aquifer was used as a criterion for lateral extension considering only the portions of the sandy layer with resistivity between 500 and 2200 ohm.me, was taken as substrate for the area, the top of all conductive layers, generating, Also, a base and an aquifer for the delimitation of areas for further abstraction. The aquifer, although shallow, should be used to expand the local supply systems, positioning itself in the holes within the area proposed criteria and through ferrule system.
