This paper presents a meteorological analysis of the development of a severe storm that occurred during the afternoon of June 7, 2011, originated in the northwestern state of Maranhão that spreaded to the city of Belém do Pará, at the time Projeto Chuva was in progress. It was also performed a numerical simulation with BRAMS model. Through NCEP reanalysis a maximum center wind was observed along the surface that was oriented in the same direction of this storm. This storm caused a drop in temperature and increase in the humidity as it passed through the region of Outeiro. A gust front was also found moments before the storm arrives in Outeiro. The vertical structure of this storm was similar in both simulation as BRAMS as that observed by radar. |
