This study aims to synthesize and characterize hydroxyapatite obtained from chicken eggshell, aiming its potential use as a bioceramic. The peels underwent a treatment that consisted of cleaning and selecting them, and then dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) was performed to verify the chemical composition of the samples. In addition, morphological analysis was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed a high content of calcium, oxygen and carbon. Scanning electron microscopy has shown that the material has well-defined particles, which is interesting for the above application. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed characteristic peaks of the presence of the HAp phase. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy showed that the material had characteristic bands that confirmed that the material obtained in this research was actually Hydroxyapatite. Thus, the characterization of the chicken eggshell showed that the residue has characteristics that fit the definitions of bioceramics.
