In this work, the objective was to study the interaction of Silicon Carbide and Aluminum in a metallic composite of manual agitation manufacturing. Specimens were made without the presence of Silicon Carbide, with the justification of being the object of comparison in relation to the proposed composite. The incorporation of silicon carbide powder was from 5% mass silicon carbide, by manual agitation. After this, there was sectionation, conformation and preparation to perform the characterizations of properties such as tensile strength, electrical resistivity, microhardness, optical microscopy metalography and by means of electronic microscopy of scanning, and chemical characterizations via x-ray spectroscopy by dispersion in energy and x-ray fluorescence, and finally a qualitative determination of the percentage of reinforcement incorporated into the matrix. By metallographic and mechanical tests, macrostructural, microstructural and mechanical properties were characterized. The increase of approximately 0.5 %, silicon carbide significantly increased mechanical resistance with regard to traction in the composite in relation to the pure matrix. As for electrical conductance, a reduction of about 7 % IACS was noted. From the analyses, an incorporation of 0.5% of silicon carbide was estimated by the manual agitation method. |
