To this aim, 24-hour sampling was made at a fixed station, along the shore of the Curuperé Marine Aquaculture Station (SEPAQ-PA) during spring tides, and the samples of phytoplankton obtained with conical - cylindrical net, 20 μm opening mesh and fixed in 1% formaldehyde solution. Tidal regime followed prediction from the Department of Hydrology and Navigation of the Brazilian Navy, while other abiotic parameters (water transparency, pH, temperature and conductivity as well as local depth) were registered in situ for every sampling hour. Water samples were collected for later analysis of nutrient concentration. The patterns of composition, abundance, frequency, diversity, equitabity and richness were related to the tidal regime, and seasonal fluctuations. Despite high species richness registered, community showed a low diversity structure. The species Campylosira cymbelliformis was dominant in both seasons, limiting in this way the presence of other species in the estuary. The region has a well-defined seasonal cycle, with a significant difference between rainy and drier periods causing strikingly changes in the other physical, chemical and biological parameters monitored on the site. The patterns of species richness, diversity and evenness of the community followed the patterns of seasonal variation of the abiotic components of the system. Diel variation was also well defined for each season, flooding tides and daytime hours were the main factors that contributed to the increase of abundance, species richness, as well as community diversity and equitabity in Curuperé creek. Este trabalho apresenta a variação nictimeral da comunidade fitoplanctônica do estuário do rio Curuperé, município de Curuçá-PA, e sua relação com parâmetros hidrológicos e o regime de marés, durante o período de maior pluviosidade (maio/2013) e de menor pluviosidade (outubro/2013). Para tal, foram realizadas coletas nictimerais em uma estação fixa, junto a orla da Estação de Aquicultura Marinha do Curuperé (SEPAQ), em marés sizígias de lua cheia, sendo as amostras do fitoplâncton obtidas com rede cônico-cilíndrica de 20 μm de abertura de malha e fixadas em solução de formaldeído a 1%. A condição da maré foi adotada segundo a Diretoria de Hidrologia e Navegação da Marinha do Brasil, enquanto que os demais parâmetros abióticos (transparência da água, pH, temperatura e condutividade e profundidade local) foram registrados em campo para cada horário de coleta. Foram coletadas amostras de água para posterior análise de concentração de nutrientes. Os padrões de composição, abundância, frequência, diversidade, equidade e riqueza, em função do regime de marés enchentes e vazantes, além da própria sazonalidade também foram monitorados. Apesar da considerável riqueza em espécies registrada, a comunidade apresentou uma estrutura pouco diversificada. A espécie Campylosira cymbelliformis foi dominante em ambos os períodos sazonais, limitando, dessa maneira, a presença das demais espécies neste estuário. A região apresenta um ciclo sazonal bem definido, com diferença significativa entre os períodos de maior e menor pluviosidade causando uma variação significativa dos demais parâmetros físico-químicos e biológicos mensurados no rio Curuperé. Os padrões de riqueza, diversidade e equitabilidade da comunidade acompanharam os padrões de variação sazonal dos componentes abióticos do sistema.
