It shows, from the analysis and the study of the documents of the archive, how to reach the proposed objective, analyze the document management and the organization of the archive, identifying possible solutions. In the archival diagnosis, it was possible to verify the real situation of the archive, when then; the analysis of this diagnosis was made, resulting in the organization proposition of the archive. Describes the methodological approach, which is an exploratory research, qualitative in nature, combining bibliographic and field research techniques for data collection. Based on this methodology, it was possible to know the mass and the document flow, the genres, the species and the types of documentaries. It concludes with the identification of misconceptions about the custody, the recovery and packaging of documents; verifies that the building where the current archive is located is outside the standards recommended by the national archival organizations. Formulate proposal of organization of the archive, in order to expedite the information storage and retrieval process; instructs the organization of the archive; and recommends the use of software developed for document management. Analisa a gestão de documentos e a organização do arquivo da Agência Distrital de Icoaraci, uma unidade administrativa pertencente à Prefeitura Municipal de Belém, que fica à distância, aproximadamente, de 18 km desta capital, com vistas a identificar o fluxo documental, bem como a composição físico-orgânica de seus documentos e suas fontes geradoras; compreender a estrutura funcional, e entender sua atual “organização”. Mostra, a partir da análise e do estudo dos documentos do arquivo, como se chegou ao objetivo proposto, analisar a gestão de documentos e a organização do arquivo, identificando possíveis soluções. No diagnóstico arquivístico, pôde-se verificar a real situação do arquivo, quando então, foi feita a análise desse diagnóstico, resultando na proposição de organização do arquivo. Descreve a abordagem metodológica, que se trata de uma pesquisa exploratória, de natureza qualitativa, combinando as técnicas de pesquisa bibliográfica e de campo para o levantamento dos dados. A partir dessa metodologia, permitiram-se conhecer a massa e o fluxo documental, os gêneros, as espécies e os tipos de documentais. Conclui com a identificação de equívocos quanto à guarda, à recuperação e ao acondicionamento dos documentos; verifica que o prédio onde se encontra o atual arquivo está fora dos padrões recomendados pelas organizações arquivísticas nacionais.
