It was sought, identify the practices used by archival institutions custodians of such records in the processes of such collections. The motivation to study the theme is due to the perception of a relative lack of knowledge of the society regarding Cabanagem. The analysis was based on the bibliographical production related to the diffusion collection, in addition to documentary research to be carried out in previously selected. The results were quite satisfactory in that Most of the institutions surveyed which understand the importance of promoting access to the information they have custody, and verify that the Cabanagem is still very much present in the research lines of these institutions, where they frequently promote actions aimed at disseminating this theme. It is hoped to contribute to the visibility of memory of our region, especially those that maintain and preserve the Cabanagem and, at the same time, assist search for primary sources about this movement. Considerando o papel social dos arquivos no que se refere a difusão da informação e produção de conhecimento, esta pesquisa se direciona para a compreensão da formação dos registros documentais da Cabanagem, movimento popular ocorrido no Pará na primeira metade do século XIX, com diversos sentidos e significados políticos, econômicos e sociais. Buscou-se, ainda, identificar as práticas utilizadas pelas instituições arquivísticas custodiadoras de tais registros nos processos de difusão e divulgação desses acervos. A motivação para estudar o tema deve-se à percepção de um relativo desconhecimento da sociedade em relação à Cabanagem. A análise foi realizada com base na produção bibliográfica relacionada à temática da difusão de acervo, além da pesquisa documental a ser realizada em locais previamente selecionados. Os resultados foram bastante satisfatórios por perceber que a maioria das Instituições pesquisadas compreende a importância de promover acesso às informações por elas custodiadas, e verificar que o tema Cabanagem ainda está muito presente nas linhas de pesquisa dessas instituições, onde frequentemente promovem ações que visam difundir cada vez mais essa temática.
