The wood resources of the Amazon forest promote the socioeconomic development in the communities of the region, mainly in environmentally differentiated settlements. Inadequate planning or failures during the execution of forest management, whether management or operational, can cause great damage to the profitability of the forest enterprise. Thus, this case study aims to evaluate operational and management failures and their implications on volumetric losses. of wood in a community forest management area (MFC) at PDS Virola Jatobá, Anapu-PA. We used data from the forest inventory, exploratory report and the Authorization for Forest Exploitation (AUTEF) of UPA 5, producing the following analyzes: quantification of trees discarded and volume used from forest exploitation; assessment of the types of damage that led to the disposal of trees selected for felling; evaluation of the stem quality of discarded cutting trees; evaluation of the impact caused by the timber market in the selection and sale of wood. With the analysis of the data, a total of 928 discards of trees licensed for felling were obtained. The species with the largest number of discarded individuals were: Pseudopiptadenia suaveolens Miq., Goupia glabra Aubl., Pouteria oppositifolia (Ducke) Baehni. About 43% of the trees were discarded from the harvest, only 6,649.5566 m³ of wood were harvested, with 72% utilization of this volume (4,798.2135 m³). Since 2016 the wood has been made available for sale, where first proposals were submitted ranging from R$ 180,00 to R$ 250,00 for species destined for sawmill and laminating, in 2017, the proposed value was from R$ 100,00 to R$ 140,00, and in 2018 was sold for R$ 110,00 per m³ of wood, totaling R$ 368,782.67. To avoid failures during the MFC, measures such as proper planning of activities and qualification of the workforce and framing of the final product to the timber market should be adopted. |
