Resumo:
The geometric design of highways aims to ensure the construction of roads safely, comfortably and aesthetically pleasing. However, it is necessary to verify the costs and benefits arising from each designer's decision. Therefore, the objective of this work is to investigate the different sizing scenarios of a horizontal curve with transition, taking into account the scenario that best meets the cost-benefit ratio. Therefore, analyzes of 8 different scenarios were performed, generated from the variation of transition length, superelevation and radius at two levels. The reduction in track travel time was assumed to be the benefit and the total volume of earthworks was assumed to be the cost. The analysis carried out concluded that scenario 3 (R = 210m | e = 8% | Ls = 60m), for presenting a lower percentage of increase in the earthwork cost equal to 0.052%, obtained the best cost/benefit ratio compared to the reference scenario (R = 210 m | e = 4% | Ls = 60 m). It is concluded that the analysis of different scenarios for dimensioning horizontal curves in geometric projects is of paramount importance, as each choice of the designer for the parameters radius, superelevation and length of the transition curve results in different technical conditions and construction cost of the highway.
