Resumo:
The sintering process consists in agglomerating iron ore fines, incorporating other materials, such as limestone fines and charcoal grind. Therefore, this work addresses an environmental issue that aims to reuse waste that, in some cases, are degrading to the environment, as is the case of mill scale. Therefore, this sintering study aims to use 8% of coke in place of charcoal, the most used fuel in steel mills in the State of Pará, as well as to use 12% of the mill scale as part of the raw material of the process. For the production of sinter, the optimum moisture content test was performed, to determine the ideal moisture for the production of the micropellets used as load in a vertical fixed bed reactor. In the verification of the quality parameters, after production, MEV/EDS, DRX, FRX and tumbling analyses were performed. The sinter obtained presented satisfactory results in relation to the addition of scale and coke, with good quality both in structure and strength, in accordance with the information inferred in the literature and therefore suitable for the process of obtaining pig iron.
