Resumo:
The following work aims to analyze death through the Anthropology of Emotions approach and to point out how feelings are interpreted and accepted collectively, socially and institutionally. For that, an ethnographic research was developed using the Santa Izabel cemetery as a reference, in Belém / PA, where I conducted interviews, observation and photographic record. It was possible to draw a small panorama of how death is felt or perceived by a group of 50 people who represented different types of users of that space, and the Day of the Dead in 2019 was chosen to carry out the entire data collection, where it is concluded in the gap of data and theories that the feelings related to death configure the individual socially and their emotions contemplate and justify the interpretation of death before the individual and the collective. The research intends to contribute to understand which feelings are connected with the immediate thought about death, whether in funeral spaces such as the cemetery, or in the funeral industry, and thus reflect on the standardization of death and its rites in contemporary times.
