Resumo:
The Rio Guamá basin, located in the northeast of the state of Pará, constitutes the most important water reference in the region, containing 19 municipalities and a wide variety of socioeconomic activities. Due to its relevance, we sought to evaluate the natural landscape of the basin, considering its hydrogemorfological aspects associated with the forms of land use, identifying the existing vulnerabilities. The methodology consisted of the cartographic integration in Geographic Information System (GIS), associating aspects related to the natural landscape - geological, geomorphological, topographic units, drainage network and distribution of rainfall; to the product of the forms of anthropic intervention (land use and occupation). The results obtained identified that the region presents an increasing natural dynamics from Alto Guamá to Baixo Guamá, with variations in the affluent sub-basins. The Baixo Guamá has a differential because it is outfall is influenced by the tide, and which receives close to its outfall, in the Baía do Guajará, the Moju and Acará rivers. The geomorphological units present are strongly associated with geological control, as well as the drainage network, which is the main definer of surface runoff and the degree of dissection / accumulation suffered by landforms. With regard to water sustainability, the region with the greatest commitment due to the characteristics of land use and natural vulnerability would be the Alto Guamá and the Mãe do Rio sub-basin; the Baixo Guamá and the Bujarú River, are distinguished by the maintenance of the vegetation cover, which guarantees a better water recharge.
