About evaluation in charge support of timber structures connections, the timber embedment strength is one of the main of parameters. Although, this resistance can show modifications when the parts are submitted some factors, such as temperature variations, because the temperature causes big effects on timber properties and this effect needs to be understanding for certs considerations in timber structures projects. Soon, the objective this research is evaluate the action of high temperature on timber embedment resistance, getting a residual resistance. The tests of parallel to grain were made in 84 test specimens separated in 7 groups of temperature between 30° and 250°C and followed the prescriptions to American (ASTM D5764- 97a) and Brazilian (ABNT 7190-97) of timber structures. The test specimens temperature was monitored using thermocouples inside of them, heat in flask being in desire temperature and next they were cooling during 24hr slowly, until get the environment al temperature. The results could get conclude that the increased of temperature influenced significantly in an embedment strength in 250°C and also darkness brow, but in 100°C the wood increased the embedment strength regarding 30°C, and this fact may happen because of moisture content after tests. |
