Its objective is to analyze the document evaluation function, aimed at digital media. As a theoretical basis, concepts that are closely linked and form the basis of the function were sought, such as: the chain of custody, documentary cycle, theory of value, and temporality table. The justification for this study is characterized by the need for the archivist to act in the face of this new informational technological scenario. This contributes to the development of tools for computerized management systems that meet archival functionalities, ensuring one of the main contributions of the profession, which is to provide broad access to information regardless of the support in which it is inserted for society. The methodological approach is qualitative, seeking to analyze which elements allow the application of the evaluation in digital documents in accordance with the legislation, norms and guidelines of the area that deal with the subject from the bibliographical review. The research universe is aimed at scientific production in the related area, with a sample outlined in the Google Academic, Scielo and Brapci knowledge bases and the results will be demonstrated based on the filtering parameters of publications from the last 7 years. The search terms used will consist of the terms “Evaluation” and “Digital document”. A presente pesquisa trata sobre a gestão documental no meio digital e conceitua a origem e o contexto do desenvolvimento da sua prática no meio físico até sua chegada nos ambientes informacionais digitais, impulsionada pelo crescimento vertiginoso desse novo tipo de suporte nos mais variados âmbitos da sociedade. Tem por objetivo analisar como as novas tecnologias interferem na função avaliação de documentos, direcionada aos suportes digitais. Como embasamento teórico, buscou-se os conceitos que estão ligados e formam a base da função, como: o ciclo documental, teoria de valor e tabela temporalidade. A justificativa desse estudo se caracteriza pela necessidade de o arquivista atuar perante esse novo cenário tecnológico informacional. Isso contribui para o desenvolvimento de ferramentas para os sistemas informatizados de gestão, que atendam às funcionalidades arquivísticas, garantindo assim, uma das principais contribuições da profissão, que é proporcionar o amplo acesso às informações independente do suporte em que esteja inserida para a sociedade. A abordagem metodológica é de caráter qualitativo, buscando analisar quais elementos permitem a aplicação da avaliação em documentos digitais de acordo com as legislações, normas e diretrizes da área que tratam sobre o tema a partir da revisão bibliográfica. O universo de pesquisa é direcionado à produção científica na área relacionada, com amostra delineada nas bases de conhecimento Google Acadêmico, Scielo e Brapci e os resultados serão demonstrados a partir dos parâmetros de filtragem das publicações dos últimos 7 anos.
