This work consists of investigating the thermal load calculation methodology used in the
EnergyPlus software and performing computer simulations to analyze the thermal performance
in an institutional building of the Federal University of Pará, located in the municipality of
Ananindeua-PA, planning to demonstrate the capability of the method addressed. , using the
software in question. In relation to this building, several characteristics were determined, among
them, constructive elements and their thermal properties, activity profile, consumption per unit
of electrical equipment and lighting system. To analyze the thermal comfort and energy
consumption of the building, the following output variables were chosen: dry bulb temperature,
wet bulb temperature, direct solar radiation, air temperature in the thermal zone, lighting energy
and electrical energy of the equipment. These data were simulated and analyzed for the
academic period according to the institution's academic calendar, representing all times of the
year, with the highest temperatures, and periods of cold or rain. For this step, it was necessary
to use the climate file of the city studied. The computer simulation tool used to calculate thermal
comfort and energy consumption in this work was the program EnergyPlus v9.6.0, which uses
the Heat Balance Method (HBM) to calculate the thermal load. The results obtained for thermal
comfort were that the environments simulated by the program presented temperatures between
23.7ºC and 33.3ºC, with these data it was possible to verify the number of hours and annual
representativeness (%) in which the environments are within the standards established by ISO
9241/2011 and NR 17, the study proved to be quite consistent with the external conditions
referring to the city of Belém-PA, indicating the good capacity of the EnergyPlus program in
these simulated cases. For the analysis of energy consumption, it was possible to obtain
statistical data generated from the simulation, presentation of the consumption in monthly and
annual kWh of each system and the representativeness (%) in relation to the total consumption
of the building, with this it is noted that the proportion of energy consumption of computers
represents most of the total consumption, because the consumption of a single computer is
equivalent to more than half of the total consumption of the lighting system. |
