The prostate cancer almost reaches 50% of the individuals with 80 years. In our country,
according to the last projections of the National Institute of Cancer (INCA), excluding the
skin tumors no melanoma, the prostate cancer will be the most frequent neoplasm in all of the
areas. The discerning screening for that pathology is made extremely necessary for detection
and precocious treatment of the same. The study in subject had as objective accomplishes the
correlation among screening methods as digital touch of the prostate, level of antigen prostate
specifies, metabolic alterations obtained by the images spectroscopy in the magnetic
resonance, with the presence of the prostate cancer. Like this, a descriptive and retrospective
study was accomplished, including as sample all the patients that accomplished spectroscopy
Prostate with magnetic resonance, in private clinic in the period of January to December of
2006. The handbooks of those patient ones were accessed, with their respective doctors'
authorization, and a research protocol previously elaborated was applied. 60 patient with PSA
in the average 8,5 ng/ml, they were analyzed during the studied period. All accomplished the
exam for digital touch of the prostate and all had already accomplished, more than a biopsy,
previous to R M with spectroscopy . Of the total of the sample (n = 60), 40pacientes presented
suggestive areas of CaP to images spectroscopy, and of those, 23 patients presented
adenocarcinoma in the histopatológico with sensibility of 40% and specificity of 82.2%. the
coincidence of the areas was Verified among the discovery of the alteration in RME with the
consistence evidences increased to TDP and the presence of CaP. The spectroscopy is a new
auxiliary method for precocious detection of the alterations of the gland Prostate and that
he/she intends to be one more screening method. The association of the screening methods is
made necessary so that there are indexes every time larger of detection of that pathology.
