In this manner, it were enclosed 24 patients submitted to the percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, from March to September, 2007. The patients were divided into two groups: the Protamine group, who received 1mg per 100 IU heparin at the end of the procedure and the Control group, who did not receive protamine. At the end of the study, it has been found clinical similiarities between these patients and the world wide actual literature. The immediate sheath removal and the weight-adjusted dosis of heparin did not bring any meaningful bleeding or vascular complications. The use of protamine seems to be a safe practice, because none of patients have shown symptoms that suggested stent thrombosis after angioplasty. Besides, most of vascular and bleeding complications occurred in control group. Protamine showed to be still useful in reducing the bleeding time. Este estudo buscou identificar a viabilidade, segurança e benefícios da remoção imediata da bainha introdutora femoral após angioplastia coronariana, utilizando um único bolus de heparina peso-ajustada, revertido ou não com protamina ao final do procedimento. Desse modo, foram incluídos 24 pacientes submetidos a angioplastia transluminal coronariana percutânea, no período de março a setembro de 2007. Os pacientes foram divididos em dois grupos: o grupo Protamina, que recebeu uma dose de protamina para reverter a heparinização e o grupo Controle, que não recebeu protamina ao final do procedimento. Ao final do estudo, houve semelhança de características clínicas e epidemiológicas entre os pacientes estudados e a literatura atual. A remoção imediata do introdutor após angioplastia com dose única, peso ajustável de heparina, não acarretaram complicações vasculares e/ou hemorrágicas significativas. A utilização de protamina parece ser segura, pois nenhum dos pacientes apresentou dados sugestivos de trombose do stent após a realização do procedimento. Além disso, a maioria das complicações vasculares/hemorrágicas ocorreu no grupo controle.
