Objective: This study try to analize the epidemic profile of the patients with diabetic mellitus type 2 of the Projeto de Atenção ao Paciente Diabético, on the University Hospital Bettina Ferro de Souza, Belém - Pará, 2007, identifying the prevalence of the sex, the principal treatment and your efficiency in front of glicemy level, the frequent complications personal record linked with this disease. Methods: Realized a individual, descriptive, transversional study basead in a review if the 373 medical prontuaries used a questionnaire research in focus about: age, sex, race, place of born, if the pacient lives in downtown or in rural zone, marital status, profession, study time, antropometric measures, arterial pressure, the time of disease. Results: The totally of 373 patients were the feminine sex. A mean age with most prevalence was around 61 to 70 years. Identified 272 patients with high blood pressure. About the time of disease the most patients had around 10 years with Diabetes Mellitus type 2. 100% of the patients realize some type of treatment, 61,65% used oral drugs to control the glicemy but 253 (67,8%) presented high glicemy levels. The prevalence of the retinophaty was observed in 11% of the cases, neurophaty was 17,7% and dermatophaty only 25,2%. When talk about diabetics personal records, the vascular cerebral accident occur in 10 patients. Conclusion: Today the Diabetes mellitus type 2 is the most prevalent disease with big impact on the mortality due cronics complications resulted of the inefficient public political to informe the health professional and the population this real and serious pathology. Introdução: O Diabetes Mellitus tipo2 representa um dos subtipos da doença, sendo muito freqüente em nosso meio. Objetivos: analisar o perfil epidemiológico dos pacientes diabéticos tipo 2 atendidos pelo Projeto de Atenção ao Paciente Diabético, no Hospital Universitário Bettina Ferro de Souza, Belém do Pará, no ano de 2007.Casuística e Métodos: Realizou-se um estudo individual, observacional, transversal, predominantemente descritivo, a partir da revisão de 373 prontuários de pacientes no período de estudo, de acordo com as variáveis contidas em protocolo de pesquisa. O protocolo aplicado destaca informações sobre: idade em faixa etária, gênero, cor da pele, naturalidade, procedência (rural e urbana), estado civil, escola ridade, profissão, medidas antropométricas, padrão tensional, tempo de doença de DM2. Presença de antecedentes pessoais vinculadas ao DM2, tratamento instituído e as drogas antidiabetógenas mais utilizadas. O estado nutricional foi avaliado por meio do índ ice de massa corporal (IMC). Apresenta ainda as alterações laboratoriais: glicemia plasmática de jejum (até 110mg/dl), colesterol total (inferior a 200mg/dl), HDL (superior a 45mg/dl), LDL (inferior a 100mg/dl), triglicerídeos (inferior a 150mg/dl), urina EAS – glicosúria e proteinúria). Presença de complicações: úlcera crônica, neuropatia (mononeuropatia e polineuropatia), mal perfurante, dermatopatia, calosidade, impotência sexual, bexiga neurogênica, pé diabético. Resultados: Dos 373 pacientes, 264 (70,8%) eram do sexo feminino. Quanto ao tratamento 100% dos pacientes realizavam algum tipo de tratamento, 253 (67,8%) pacientes apresentavam glicemia alterada. A prevalência de retinopatia foi observada em 11%, a de neuropatia foi de 17,7%, dermatopatias 25,2%, calosidades 8,3%, pé diabético 2,9% e úlcera crônica 1,3%. Dentre os 19 pacientes que apresentaram antecedentes pessoais vinculados ao DM2. Do total de 133 pacientes obesos, 95 tinham a glicemia alterada. Dos 147 pacientes com sobrepeso, 100 apresentaram glicemia alterada. Apenas 2 pacientes não tinham dados suficientes. O tratamento mais utilizado era com hipoglicemiantes orais que representavam 61,65% dos pacientes.Conclusão: O diabetes mellitus tipo 2 é uma das doenças mais prevalentes na atualidade, com grande impacto na mortalidade devido suas complicações crônicas, resultado de ineficientes políticas públicas no sentido da conscientização e medidas terapêuticas.
