Transplantation is an efficient treatment for chronic liver diseases nowadays. It has global survival around 80% in three years. With the aim of correctly instruct and prepare people who will execute this surgical treatment form, it is important to create specific training centers to make experimental projects with animals, allowing good knowledge of comparative anatomy and preparing surgeons to liver harvesting and transplantation. So, the objective of this study is to make a description of a change in liver transplantation technique in pigs, as well as to evaluate the post-surgical immediate period in the animal model, compare the pre-transplantation and post transplantation histopathological findings and evaluate the occurrence of trans surgical and immediate post-surgical complications. For the study of liver transplantation technique, it was used ten female pigs of Sus domesticus specie with body weight between five and eight kilograms. The procedure was separated in harvesting, back-table and transplantation. After thirty minutes of the last anastomosis, it was taken the liver biopsy and the clinical control of all animals submitted to the surgery. After histological and biochemical material was taken, euthanasia was induced. It can be concluded that this technique is viable and efficient. The main modifications were the using of a clockwise sense, the making of anchor points at the “back-table”, the preparing of the anostomotic mouth and the superior caval vein anastomosis technique. The main histological alterations found were vascular congestion and estatosis. About the ocurrence of trans-operatory complications we can cite: difficulty in orotraqueal intubation, intra-operatory bleeding, hemodynamic and respiratory instability and anesthesical complications. In the immediate post-surgical we observed as most frequently complications: hemodynamic instability and small anastomotic bleedings. |
