The patients that received the diagnosis of chronic myelogenous leukemia in Ophir Loyola Hospital from January 2000 to December 2004 and have Philadelphia chromosome positive and/or gene BCR/ABL positive are the sample, 45 patients. The information were collected in the medical records, revealing: majority masculine, 55,6% (25/45); median age at presentation was 42 years, and 28,9% (13/45) of the patients were from 31 to 40 years on diagnosis; 55,5% (25/45) lived in Belem; 56% (24/43) had more than 50.000 leukocytes on first consultation; median duration between chronic stage to acute stage was 23,4 months and from acute stage to blast crisis was 28 months; 36% (16/45) of the sample dead , 20% (9/45) continued the treatment BCR/ABL positive, 7% (3/45) continued treatment BCR/ABL negative and 37% (17/45) did not have continuation of the medical records; only 7 % (3/45) of the patient did bone marrow transplantation, that is only definitive treatment. The research disclosed the patients profile with chronic myelogenous leukemia in region and showed that age at presentation of the disease in region is smaller than international literature and that the mortality is high. In spite of a inferior median age, the percentage of bone marrow transplantation is low. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a evolução da leucemia mielóide crônica, dando prioridade para a análise das fases evolutivas da doença, crônica e agudizada, aos tratamentos estabelecidos em cada fase e à epidemiologia da doença. Os pacientes que receberam o diagnóstico de leucemia mielóide crônica no Hospital Ophir Loyola entre janeiro de 2000 a dezembro de 2004 e que possuíam exames demonstrando cromossomo Philadelphia positivo e/ou gene BCR/ABL positivo representam a amostra do trabalho, que é de 45 pacientes. As informações foram coletadas dos prontuários médicos, revelando os seguintes dados: predominância do sexo masculino, representando 55,6% (25/45) da amostra; média da idade ao diagnóstico de 42 anos, sendo que o 28,9% (13/45) dos pacientes tinham entre 31 e 40 ao diagnóstico; 55,5% (25/45) residiam em Belém; 56% (24/43) dos pacientes apresentavam leucócitos acima de 50.000 na primeira consulta na instituição; o tempo médio de duração da fase crônica para acelerada foi de 23,4 meses e da fase acelerada para blástica foi de 28 meses; 36% (16/45) evoluíram á óbito , 20% (9/45) continuaram o tratamento BCR/ABL positivo, 7% (3/45) continuaram o tratamento BCR/ABL negativo e 37% (17/45) não tinham seguimento do prontuário; 7 % (3/45) dos pacientes realizaram transplante de medula óssea, sendo este o único tratamento curativo para ao doença atualmente. O estudo mostrou o perfil dos pacientes com leucemia miéloide crônica da região e mostrou que a idade de acometimento da doença na região é inferior a da literatura internacional e que a mortalidade desses pacientes é alta.
