In this way, based on data about the occurrence of cancer, it is possible to observe that it affects more and more people. When it comes to gastric neoplasm in the Brazilian population, it is among the five main causes of cancer death in the country, reaching mainly men, people over 60 and being more prevalent in the population of the North Region. Therefore, we seek to know the situation of the Marajó / PA mesoregion regarding the occurrence of gastric cancer hospitalizations from 2001 to 2016.. In order to know this number of hospitalizations, information was collected from the database of the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System ­ SUS (DATASUS), analyzing the variables: years of occurrence, gender and age group. It was observed that during the study period there was a gradual increase in the number of hospitalizations due to gastric cancer, with the prevalence of the years 2013 to 2016 with 42.18% of hospitalizations. Regarding gender, most hospitalizations occurred in males (66.67%) and, when evaluating the age group, hospitalizations were more frequent in people over 60 (47.69%). These findings are consistent with the results, and it was observed that in the period from 2001 to 2016 there was a gradual increase in the number of hospitalizations due to gastric cancer in the Marajó mesoregion, with the most hospitalized persons being males and those with 60 years or more. O câncer é uma doença benigna ou maligna, que pode ocorrer em qualquer parte de corpo e que tem se tornado cada vez mais presente no quadro mundial, sendo colocada inclusive como principal causa de morbidade e mortalidade em 2012. Desta forma, com base em dados sobre a ocorrência de câncer, é possível observar que o mesmo afeta cada vez mais pessoas. Quando se trata da neoplasia gástrica na população brasileira, esta se encontra entre as cinco principais causas de morte por câncer no país, atingindo principalmente o sexo masculino, as pessoas com mais de 60 anos e sendo mais prevalente na população da Região Norte. Sendo assim, busca­-se conhecer a situação da mesorregião do Marajó/PA quanto à ocorrência de internações por câncer gástrico no período de 2001 a 2016. Para conhecer este número de internações foram coletadas informações do banco de dados do Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde – SUS, (DATASUS) analisando as variáveis: anos de ocorrências, gênero e faixa etária. Tendo sido observado que no período estudado houve um aumento gradativo do número de internações por câncer gástrico, prevalecendo os anos de 2013 a 2016 com 42,18% das internações. No que tange ao gênero, a maioria das internações ocorreram no sexo masculino (66,67%) e, ao avaliar a faixa etária, as internações se mostraram mais frequentes em pessoas acima de 60 anos (47,69%).
