The so-called traditional quilombola communities are symbols of resistance within the slave regime of our history, their cultures, customs and beliefs are a landmark of struggles and conquests to the present day. In view of this, the present research aims to evaluate the perception of the residents who make up the remaining Quilombola village of Jutaí, located in the municipality of Breu Branco, state of Pará. To this end, on-site visits were carried out and semi-structured questionnaires were applied to the community to outline the socioeconomic profile, as well as to understand its relationship with the environment in which it lives, especially regarding health and environmental health aspects. The results elucidate that a considerable portion of respondents have little or no environmental perception within the environment in which they live. About basic sanitation conditions, as well as drainage, water supply, the services offered are inefficient for an adequate quality of life, diseases related to waste and lack of water treatment there were some cases in the community. Questioned about the waste generated, the vast majority are unaware of important techniques for recycling, composting and proper disposal of solid waste. Therefore, the remaining Jutaí quilombola community has little knowledge for the proper preservation of the environment in which they reside, and environmental education is an indispensable bias for this.
