Resumo:
The objective was to verify the relationship between body image perception, body mass index, eating behavior and food consumption of undergraduate students in nutrition from a federal public university. Crosssectional study with sampling for convenience of 157 adult students of both genders, who answered the questionnaire online. The majority belonged to the female gender (86.6%). Were classified as eutrophic 72.6% of the participants. Physical inactivity was reported by 60.5% of the participants. The 'external intake' subscale presented the highest mean between the subscales of the Dutch Food Behavior Questionnaire (3.22 ± 0.62), as well as the 'healthy food' score (3.8 ± 1.3). There was a statistically significant difference between body image categories and the variables 'healthy eating markers' (p <0.002) and 'markers of unhealthy eating' (p = 0.040). Were dissatisfied with their body image 77.7% of the students and 49.7% of them wanted to lose weight. Positive, moderate and direct correlation can be observed between body image perception and BMI (0.6334), age (0.5418) and food restriction subscale (0.5361); while there was a weak and inverse correlation between the selfimage and the subscale of eating behavior 'emotional ingestion' (0.1335). Therefore, the variables most associated with body image were BMI, age and food restriction subscale, so that students dissatisfied with their image had higher BMI, age and food restriction scores.
