Introduction: Changes in dietary patterns in recent decades have resulted in an increase in
the occurrence of noncommunicable chronic diseases (NCDs). Among the main ones, chronic
kidney disease (CKD) stands out, as it is associated with the high morbidity and mortality
rate. Hemodialysis is the most effective treatment for its management, however it has many
nutritional consequences, since nutrition is one of the most important multiprofessional areas
for the care of these patients and the association between several parameters is necessary for
the correct nutritional diagnosis. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study conducted
with 50 patients of both sexes undergoing treatment at the Gaspar Viana Clinical Hospital
Foundation (FHCGV). The inclusion criterion was to present physical and mental aptitude
and signed the consent form for participation in the study. sociodemographic, biochemical,
anthropometric and clinical data were collected using a questionnaire prepared by the research
team. Dietary analysis was performed using a 24-hour recall. Data collection occurred only
after the approval of this project by the ethics committee under opinion No. 2,970,945.
Results: There was a prevalence of mature adults with equivalent gender differences, who
presented precarious socioeconomic conditions. The most frequent comorbidities were in this
order: SAH and DM. Regarding BMI, eutrophic patients prevailed and CB showed alteration
of protein reserves. The biochemical parameters showed alterations in relation to the
references for this population. It was verified that the creatinine, hemoglobin, serum calcium
and hematocrit values are below the reference values, while the values of urea after
hemodialysis, serum potassium, ferritin and glycemia, above the reference values. Dietary
findings showed changes mainly in potassium and calcium consumption, which were below
the recommended. Conclusion: The results of this study are relevant for the scientific
community and health team, especially for nutritionists because they highlight the main
changes present in this population. In addition, this study proves that there is not a single
parameter that provides complete results regarding nutritional status, so it is necessary to
associate several indicators for a correct diagnosis and nutritional intervention. |
