The correlation between both are reasons for studies, since,scientifically, it is possible to analyze the benefits of BF in the prevention of childhood obesity.Objective: To identify and describe the current evidence about the correlation of breastfeeding and protection/prevention of childhood obesity. Methods: This study is a qualitative research with the application of review standards integrative literature, in order to obtain evidence of various types of study on the researched topic. A search was performed for scientific articles available in electronic media, published in the last five years. Data were collected between April and mid-May 2022. Results: A total of 140 articles were found in scientific databases, which were primarily analyzed, by reading the title. After processing the selection, 128 articles relevant to the research were identified, of which 18 were selected, based on pre-established criteria. Finally, 8 more articles that did not meet the inclusion criteria were excluded from the research, being included a final total of 10 articles, indexed in the MEDLINE database, 9 of them available in English and 1 available in English and Spanish. Conclusion: There is a direct relationship between the practice of breastfeeding and the prevention of overweight, especially when the offer is exclusive for up to 6 months. The duration of breastfeeding has an influence on protection or predisposition to overweight and obesity. Introdução: Nos últimos anos observa-se que a prevalência de aleitamento materno (AM) está aquém dos padrões estabelecidos pela Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS) e os índices de obesidade infantil têm se mostrado em crescimento exponencial. A correlação entre ambos são motivos de estudos, uma vez que, cientificamente pode-se analisar os benefícios do AM na prevenção da obesidade infantil. Objetivo: Identificar e descrever as evidências atuais acerca da correlação do aleitamento materno e proteção/prevenção da obesidade infantil. Métodos: Este estudo trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa com aplicação de normas de revisão integrativa da literatura, a fim de se obter evidências de vários tipos de estudo sobre a temática pesquisada. Foi executada a busca de artigos científicos disponibilizados em meios eletrônicos, publicados nos últimos cinco anos. Os dados foram coletados entre o mês de abril e meados de maio de 2022. Resultados: Foram encontrados um total de 140 artigos nas bases de dados científicas os quais foram analisados primariamente, através da leitura do título. Posteriormente ao processamento da seleção foram identificados 128 artigos relevantes à pesquisa, dos quais foram selecionados 18, a partir dos critérios preestabelecidos. Por fim, foram excluídos da pesquisa mais 8 artigos que não se adequaram aos critérios de inclusão, sendo incluído um total final de 10 artigos, indexados na base de dados MEDLINE, 9 deles disponíveis em inglês e 1 disponível em inglês e espanhol. Conclusão: Há relação direta entre a prática do aleitamento materno e a prevenção de excesso de peso, principalmente quando a oferta é exclusiva até os 6 meses.
