It is understood, therefore, that spirituality/religiousness emerges as one more element in the personcentered therapy, requiring adequate attention, contributing to raise the quality of care of the human being. Objectives: To know, from the point of view of hospitalized clinical patients, their perception of whether their spiritual and/or religious needs were met. Materials and methods: This is an observational, quantitative and qualitative, analytical, transversal study, carried out in the wards of Clinical Medicine of João de Barros Barreto University Hospital, in which a research protocol composed of four parts was applied to 29 patients: I) sociodemographic aspects; II) spiritual anamnesis; III) scale of spiritual wellbeing and, IV) perception of care by the patient. This research obtained the consent of the local Committee for Ethics in Research in Human Beings. Results: In the study period, the selected population had a mean age of 61 years, slight predominance of the female gender (55.17%), coming from the metropolitan region in 65.51% and 96.55% declared to be part of some religious affiliation. Regarding the perception of spiritual attendance, 100% of the patients answered that they consider it important for the health team to know about their beliefs and/or religion, but only in 41.7% of the cases this was attended to, with the majority being nurses and psychologists. The content analysis of the spiritual anamnesis reinforced in the four categories identified the importance of spirituality/religiosity in the moment of illness and that they were at a moderate to high level of spiritual wellbeing. Conclusions: The results of this study showed that most of the patients interviewed had satisfactory spiritual wellbeing, as well as a desire that their spiritual needs be considered an aspect of their overall health, demonstrating the importance of this knowledge for health professionals. Introdução: Na atualidade, muitos estudos ressaltam a importância do bemestar espiritual como componente da promoção da saúde. Entendese, portanto, que a espiritualidade/ religiosidade emerge como um elemento a mais na terapia centrada na pessoa, necessitando de uma adequada atenção, contribuindo para elevar a qualidade nos cuidados do ser humano. Objetivos: conhecer, sob a ótica dos pacientes clínicos internados, a percepção dos mesmos se suas necessidades espirituais e/ou religiosas foram atendidas. Materiais e métodos: Tratase de um estudo observacional, quantitativo e qualitativo, analítico, transversal, realizado nas enfermarias de Clínica Médica do Hospital Universitário João de Barros Barreto, no qual foi aplicado a 29 pacientes um protocolo de pesquisa composto de quatro partes: I) aspectos sócio demográficos; II) anamnese espiritual; III) escala de bemestar espiritual e, IV) percepção do atendimento pelo paciente. Esta pesquisa obteve o consentimento do Comitê local de Ética em Pesquisa em Seres Humanos. Resultados: No período de estudo, a população selecionada possuía média de idade 61 anos, ligeiro predomínio do gênero feminino (55,17%), procedentes da região metropolitana em 65,51% e 96,55% declararam fazer parte de alguma filiação religiosa. Quanto à percepção do atendimento espiritual, 100% dos pacientes responderam que consideram que é importante a equipe de saúde saber das suas crenças e/ou religião, porém somente em 41,7% dos casos isto foi atendido, sendo a maioria questionada por enfermeiros e psicólogos. A análise de conteúdo da anamnese espiritual reforçou nas quatro categorias identificadas a importância da espiritualidade/religiosidade no momento de adoecimento e que os mesmos se encontravam em um nível de bemestar espiritual moderado a alto.
