Resumo:
The present study aims to raise the last articles of the past six years on nutritional interventions and describe its importance in management for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. A systematic review was carried out in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), PubMed, Scielo and CAPES journals. Scientific articles, monograph projects, published in magazines and legal documents available on the internet that address the subject were considered. The works analyzed were preferably from the period of the last six years from 2016 to 2021. The survey was conducted in Portuguese and English. The following descriptors were adopted for consultation in the databases: "Autism Spectrum Disorder AND nutritional status", "Autism Spectrum Disorder AND diet", "Autism Spectrum Disorder AND Diet Therapy", "Autism Spectrum Disorder AND Diet", Autism Spectrum Disorder AND diet therapies “Autism spectrum disorder AND diet gluten free”, “Autism and nutrition”, “Autism and Diet”. Twenty seven articles were included in the review, regarding strategies, the studies demonstrated some benefit in the use of the triad of gluten and casein exclusion diet, prebiotic and probiotic supplementation and vitamin supplementation. However, scientific evidence of the main nutritional strategies is still very scarce. It is concluded that nutritional intervention has a fundamental role in the treatment of autism, it should be considered an important therapeutic resource, aiming to expand new interventions and benefits for the treatment of autism as long as this nutritional counseling is carried out by a professional who considers each specificity. Autistic child.
