Presents the intellectual production of students, emphasizing aspects that indicate the difficulties found by students in writing the works required at the academy. The objective is to describe and compare the difficulties that affect the intellectual production of the students of the Faculties of Library Science and Pedagogy of the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA), contributing to a better quality of academic and scientific works. In this way, it will be enriching the range of information that the university must produce, supporting its three pillars: teaching, research and extension. For this, a case study was carried out, by a qualitative and quantitative approach. In addition to bibliographic research related to academic work; writing of texts; normalization of documents, through the precepts established by the Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas (ABNT); and plagiarism in authorial production. Through the research carried out, it is inferred that the intellectual production of the academic works must be worked more arduous in its environment, with greater investments in specific disciplines, and more rigorous criterion regarding the students' reading and writing processes.
