Resumo:
Cervical cancer (CCU) is characterized by being a disease of confused and disordered replication of the epithelium, caused by persistent HPV infection, with 570,000 cases diagnosed per year worldwide and 311.000 deaths. It is the fourth most common type of cancer among women. Developed countries have lowest rates related to cancer, whereas underdeveloped countries, including Brazil, are the champions in the new numbers of CCU. Brazil, in turn, has an estimated number of 16.590 cases/year for the triennium 2020-2022, with Pará being responsible for about 780 cases and Belém, 110. Therefore, this work aims to analyze the epidemiological profile about CCU and the mortality rate, based on an ecological, retrospective and epidemiological study using DATASUS-TABNET computerized database on high-grade lesions and cervical cancer in the state of Pará from 2017 to 2021. The State of Pará still has high rates of CCU compared with other states in Brazil. High-grade lesions (CIN 2, CIN 3 and adenocarcinoma in situ) comprise most of the data collected in the research, when compared to cervical cancer. Such a situation can denote underreporting, incorrect filling of data, poor control of diagnosed cases, among others. The conoravirus pandemic corroborated the pronouncement of these incorrect notifications. This fact also compromises the analysis of the education factor related to these injuries. Still, it was understood through this research that Pará still has exorbitant mortality rates, when compared to other states and especially to Brazil, which was reported in the study. Also, there is a perception of a growing increase in cases in younger age groups, with the ages between 30 and 35 years being the ones with the most notifications, and the average age of diagnoses being 49.5. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that CCU is an important public health problem. With alarming data for this problem, the State of Pará draws attention to the need for greater investment in the screening and active search of women - especially those who have less access to services - and for the promotion of health education, especially on the part of Primary Health Care.
