Objective: To understand the relationship between functionality and satisfaction in performing ADLs and IADL's in patients affected by stroke, through the cognitive rehabilitation approach. Methodology: The study is characterized as a longitudinal study of pre and post intervention, qualitative nature through single case study, affected patient by stroke, the sessions were performed in outpatient and at home, for the period from May to August 2016 by setting up in 17 visits, data collection was performed at the beginning and end of the study, through KATZ protocols, MIF, COPM and through registration of changes in order to measure the functionality and evaluate satisfaction of individuals in performing ADLs and IADL's. Results: KATZ index at baseline showed dependence requiring human assistance in ADLs dressing, feeding and transfer, and revaluation found independence in all ADLs. The MIF presented the modified dependency initial assessment and reassessment scored as full or modified independence. The COPM presented in changing score 25 points in performance and satisfaction 29 points. The records of developments corroborate the results of the protocols. Discussion: The results showed significant improvement in functionality and satisfaction of ADLs and IADL's, with relationship between them, and revealed by the results of the protocols and through analysis of the evolutions of the sessions. Conclusion: This way the functionality and satisfaction have an intrinsic relationship in cognitive rehabilitation process focusing on ADLs and IADL's, in patients affected by stroke, there by contributing to improving the quality of life of patients. Introdução: O Acidente Vascular Encefálico (AVE) compromete as funções das áreas cerebrais acometidas, podendo afetar funções sensório-motoras, cognitivas e comportamentais, ocasionando em déficits que comprometem a funcionalidade, interferindo nas ocupações, podendo influenciar negativamente na satisfação do indivíduo e na participação na realização das AVD’s e AIVD’s. Objetivo: Entender a relação entre funcionalidade e a satisfação na realização das AVD’s e AIVD’s em pacientes acometidos por AVE, por meio da abordagem da reabilitação cognitiva. Metodologia: O estudo se caracteriza como pesquisa longitudinal de pré e pós intervenção, de cunho qualitativo por meio de estudo de caso único, de paciente acometida por AVE, os atendimentos foram realizados em ambulatório e em domicílio, pelo período de Maio a Agosto de 2016, configurando-se em 17 atendimentos, a coleta de dados foi realizada no inicio e ao final da pesquisa, por meio dos protocolos KATZ, MIF, COPM e por meio de registro das evoluções, a fim de mensurar a funcionalidade, e avaliar a satisfação dos indivíduos na realização das AVD’s e AIVD’s. Resultados: O índice de KATZ na avaliação inicial apresentou dependência necessitando de ajuda humana nas AVD’s de vestir, alimentação, e transferir-se, e na reavaliação constatou independência em todas as AVD’s. A MIF apresentou na avaliação inicial dependência modificada e na reavaliação pontuou como independência total ou modificada. A COPM apresentou na escore de mudança no desempenho 25 pontos e na satisfação 29 pontos. Os registros das evoluções corroboram com os resultados dos protocolos. Discussão: Os resultados apresentaram melhora significativa na funcionalidade e na satisfação das AVD’s e AIVD’s, havendo relação entre ambos, sendo constatado por meio dos resultados dos protocolos e por meio da analise das evoluções das sessões.
