However, despite its differences from the older nucleus, the area has its importance. Through bibliographic research, photographic survey and the use of ethnographic method to conduct interviews with residents and heritage technicians, a historical contextualization of the area and the characterization of its architectural typologies and landscape were done. In addition, the different perceptions of the subjects who act, directly or indirectly, on the area were also presented. Thus, the study of this part of the neighborhood and the understanding about the existent dialogue between the newer and the ancient portion is necessary to make Cidade Velha be seen as a whole, which has multiple facets. Este trabalho possui como objetivo a análise da porção aqui designada como “a mais recente” do bairro da Cidade Velha em Belém do Pará, a qual não costuma ter o merecido destaque em produções científicas de arquitetura pelo fato de os limites abrangidos pelo recorte escolhido como objeto de estudo não conterem numerosos exemplares de edificações com interesse a preservação em relação à porção antiga. No entanto, apesar de suas diferenças em relação ao núcleo mais antigo, a área possui sua devida importância. Por meio da pesquisa bibliográfica, do levantamento fotográfico e da utilização do método etnográfico para a realização de entrevistas com moradores e técnicos do patrimônio, foi realizada uma contextualização histórica sobre a área e a caracterização das tipologias arquitetônicas e da paisagem nela existente. Ademais, foram apresentadas também as diferentes percepções dos sujeitos que atuam, de forma direta ou indireta, sobre a área.
