This Architecture and Urbanism graduation monograph aims to understand how the actions resulting
from the Tucunduba River Basin Recovery and Urbanization Project changed the urban dynamics and
the landscape in and around the Tucunduba River area, located in Belém-PA. From that, information
was gathered for the design proposals able to complement points not included in the drainage project,
regarding the image of the watercourse, improvement of the landscape and the environmental
valorization in the already rectified river stretch. The research was conducted through literature review
and visits to the study area, also analyzing the daily lives of the residents of Igarapé Tucunduba. In the
visits to the intervention area, it was perceived there is a lack of leisure areas, as well as a high housing
deficit, given the high number of stilts still on the river banks. Thus, it was noted the need for the
following projects: the creation of a linear park aimed at living in harmony with the Tucunduba River,
in the Terra Firme neighborhood, as well as a proposal for the design of a housing development for
residents relocated from the banks from the river, in the Canudos neighborhood. These new projects
must respect the Permanent Protection Areas (PPA), ensuring the integration of the river and leisure
areas and the improvement of the living conditions of the populations of the peripheral areas.Also
based on the information found, there are proposals of public leisure spaces for the residents living
along the river banks. Finally, complementing the project it is proposed a Housing Development of
Social Interest for the block where the formerly Tannery Santo Antonio site located in the Canudos
neighborhood.
