The method was based on the qualitative approach with a descriptive approach, of transversal character and non-probabilistic sampling of the type for convenience. The research was conducted in the city of Belém, Pará, considering the division of administrative districts in which the municipality is organized. Data were collected during the period from July to November 2017, through semi-structured interviews with DF in the age group between 18 and 59 years, residents of the city of Belém and occupational therapists linked to NASF in the city. The results showed 4 categories associated to the participants' perceptions about the health and occupational needs of DF, the participation of this public in the territory and the professional practice of occupational therapists. Regarding health needs, categories related to life scenario, access to health services and functional impairment emerged. Regarding occupational needs, aspects related to caring for oneself, socialization, involvement in work and sense of doing have arisen. Participation was illustrated by DFs who used the health services of their community and those who were restricted to the home characterizing a weak social network. Regarding the work of the occupational therapist, direct and indirect actions for DF were reported, such as home visits, referrals, adaptations, partnerships, health education and training. Within this work process, many obstacles were encountered, related to structural challenges, difficulties in network effectiveness and work dynamics - involving interpersonal relationships and occupational difficulties. It was concluded that the study favored a better understanding of the health and occupational needs of the DF, evidencing that some demands of this public can be accepted in primary care, and that in most cases, DF fail to accomplish what they want or choose to do, thus presenting an occupational gap present in their daily lives. It was also noted that the use of basic care services is fundamental for the exercise of the right of access to health, and that the difficulties encountered by professionals in the development of their actions interfere with the assistance offered, as well as the emergence of possible situations of diseases. Este estudo buscou identificar as necessidades de saúde e ocupacionais das pessoas com deficiência física (DF) e compreender a prática profissional dos terapeutas ocupacionais que atuam nos Núcleos de Apoio à Saúde da Família (NASF) no município de Belém/PA. O método baseou- se na abordagem qualitativa com enfoque descritivo, de caráter transversal e amostragem não probabilística do tipo por conveniência. A pesquisa ocorreu na cidade de Belém, Pará, considerando a divisão dos distritos administrativos nos quais o município é organizado. A coleta de dados ocorreu durante o período de julho a novembro de 2017, por meio da realização de entrevistas semiestruturadas com DF na faixa etária entre 18 a 59 anos, moradoras da cidade de Belém e terapeutas ocupacionais vinculados aos NASF existentes na cidade. Os resultados apontaram 4 categorias associadas às percepções dos participantes acerca das necessidades de saúde e ocupacionais de DF, à participação deste público no território e à prática profissional dos terapeutas ocupacionais. Sobre as necessidades de saúde, emergiram categorias relacionadas ao cenário de vida, acesso aos serviços de saúde e comprometimento funcional. No tocante às necessidades ocupacionais, surgiram aspectos voltados para o cuidar de si, socialização, envolvimento no trabalho e sentido do fazer. A participação foi ilustrada pelas DF que utilizavam os serviços de saúde da sua comunidade e aquelas que estavam restritas ao domicílio caracterizando uma rede social fragilizada. No que diz respeito à atuação do terapeuta ocupacional, foram relatadas ações diretas e indiretas para DF, como visitas domiciliares, encaminhamentos, adaptações, parcerias, educação em saúde e capacitações. Dentro desse processo de trabalho, foram encontrados muitos entraves, relativos aos desafios estruturais, dificuldades na efetividade da rede e na dinâmica do trabalho – que envolvem as relações interpessoais e acometimentos ocupacionais. Concluiu-se que o estudo favoreceu a melhor compreensão das necessidades de saúde e ocupacionais das DF, evidenciando que algumas demandas desse público, podem ser acolhidas no âmbito da atenção primária, e que na maioria das vezes, as DF deixam de realizar aquilo que desejam ou escolhem fazer, apresentando assim, uma lacuna ocupacional presente no seu cotidiano.
