We consulted and analyzed 897 abstracts from 1993 to 2007, in which the year 2007 had the highest number of published abstracts and 1994 the lowest number of publications. It is possible to understand the Institutional Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program as an instrument of insertion of undergraduates in the research world and as an important element for the scientific memory of the Museum. Finally, the results presented in this study reinforce the importance of repositories for the preservation and measurement of the scientific environment present in the institutions. From the discussions, it is expected that PIBIC will continue to contribute to the training of new researchers and to the scientific development in the Amazon and at the Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi. O presente trabalho visa a análise dos 15 anos dos Livros de Resumos do Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação Científica do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, por meio do povoamento do seu Repositório Institucional. Utiliza os métodos de pesquisa documental, com análise exploratória e abordagem qualitativa/quantitativa, e uso do método bibliométrico. Foram consultados e analisados 897 resumos referentes aos anos de 1993 a 2007, na qual o ano de 2007 teve o maior número de resumos publicados e 1994 o menor número de publicações, as pesquisadoras obtiveram destaques nas orientações, sendo a pesquisadora Lourdes Furtado a com mais resumos orientados, entre os bolsistas as mulheres se destacaram, enquanto a Botânica consagrou-se como a área com mais publicações. É possível compreender o Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação Científica como um instrumento de inserção dos graduandos no mundo da pesquisa e como um elemento importante para a memória científica do Museu. Por fim, os resultados apresentados neste estudo reforçam a importância dos repositórios para a preservação e mensuração do ambiente cientifico presente nas instituições.
