Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of the use of an ADL guidance manual to assist caregivers in the care of people with stroke sequelae. Methodology: This is a descriptive exploratory qualitative study, carried out in the extension project "Neurological Rehabilitation and Occupational Therapy: a focus on ADLs" with people who have suffered stroke and their respective caregivers. The data collection was performed through semi-structured interviews and was presented in three phases, and their data were analyzed through content analysis. Results: The results regarding the data collected in the interviews were presented in the form of a case study and then the guidelines manual is presented as a result of this research. Discussion: it was distributed in the discussion of the methodological design and data collection instruments, profile of the participants, contributions of the manual as an instrument of education and health and limitations of the study. Conclusion: It was concluded in the study that the use of manuals as an education and health tool for caregivers of persons suffering from stroke is an effective strategy, as it contributes as a tool to help the caregiver in face of the difficulties presented, and As a consequence in the effective improvement of the client. Introdução: O presente estudo se deu a partir do interesse das discentes em relação aos assuntos que tratam sobre a Atividade de Vida Diária, dos conhecimentos e experiências adquiridas no projeto de extensão “Reabilitação Neurológica e Terapia Ocupacional: um enfoque nas AVD’s” somado com as vivências durante os estágios obrigatórios em Unidade Básica de Saúde e Núcleo de Apoio a Saúde da Família. O interesse também surgiu diante da falta de instrumentos educativos oriundos do campo da Terapia Ocupacional em relação a este assunto. Objetivo: Analisar a eficácia da utilização de um manual de orientação de AVD, para auxiliar cuidadores na assistência de pessoas com sequelas do AVE. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo de cunho qualitativo do tipo exploratório descritivo, realizado no projeto de extensão “Reabilitação Neurológica e Terapia Ocupacional: um enfoque nas AVD’s” com pessoas que sofreram AVE e seus respectivos cuidadores. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de entrevistas semi-estruturadas e apresentou-se em três fases, e seus dados foram analisados através da análise de conteúdo. Resultados: Os resultados referentes aos dados coletados nas entrevistas foram apresentados em forma de estudo de caso e em seguida apresenta-se o manual de orientações como resultado desta pesquisa. Discussão: distribuiu-se na discussão do delineamento metodológico e instrumentos de coleta de dados, perfil dos participantes, contribuições do manual como um instrumento de educação e saúde e limitações do estudo.
